The Academy Award winner has just landed the much-coveted role of the new face of Givenchy. Not bad for a non-model, who happens to have what some might call, "model looks."
If you're thinking Julia's trademark huge, friendly smile nailed the awesome gig for her, well, you might be wrong. Sure, this is how we all normally recognize the star:
But this isn't the fashion/beauty approach Givenchy's Riccardo Tisci was aiming for. The Italian design genius is almost wiping away Julia's feminine sexuality. Instead, Tisci is downplaying her image with a more unisex appeal for Givenchy's 2015 Spring/Summer ad campaign:
More like Julia Roberts "unplugged," or raw Julia Roberts.
“She has the most beautiful smile in the world and I love it, but it’s Julia’s sensibility that interests me,” Tisci says, in a Yahoo Style interview. “For me, the Julia in these pictures is the real one you see every day. They’re really honest portraits of her.”
“People want to see Julia in the way she is on screen, but in real life she’s much more tomboyish, no make up,” he says. “This was an iconic moment because she is an icon.”
Julia Roberts is NO stranger to the elegance + beauty of Givenchy. She has worn a number of these designs at major red carpet events.
