Toss This Little Mac Into Your Beach Bag And Go!
We don't need to warn anyone about the dangers of the sun's rays. We've all been told, again and again, and yet, many of us still lie out there and tan.
But there are ways to play safely, and here's a little cutie for your beach bag:
MAC's, Hey, Sailor! Suntints SPF 20 Liquid Lip Balm ($16, at macccsometics.com and fine dept. stores). Yes, the packaging of this one is super sweet and nautical.
These sheer balms help protect your kissable lips from the sun, surf, salt, and those balmy breezes.
But MAC's Hey, Sailor! Suntints are hard to find----SOLD OUT at the MAC website for the moment. Not available at Macy's, either.
We did locate a tube at Dillards.com
By the way, Ebay is selling a number of MAC's new Suntints at much higher prices, but when a gal needs her MAC fix, well, you gotta do what you gotta do, we suppose. Would you shell out $24.99 for this $16 MAC Hey, Sailor! balm?!
The Suntints come in 3 limited edition shades:
Abalone....a light pink gloss.
Au Rose...a medium pink gold shimmer gloss.
Sea Mist..a pale beige with a white shimmer.
So, the question begs, are these very pretty, but very sheer MAC lip balms effective under the powerful searing rays?
Maybe not as much, unless you put another SPF lip balm on BEFORE you slick on your MAC.
Lip Gloss Can Invite Skin Cancer. That was the headline a few years ago. And although MAC's Suntints are lip balms, they are made with a liquid gloss-type formula.
We still believe that the MAC Hey, Sailor balm at 20 SPF is great to toss into your beach bag. We'd just add another layer of balm underneath to reach a 30 SPF, as dermatologists advise.
Hey, no beauty product is perfect to protect you from the sun, but there are ways to still play safely.

New Nair Brazilian Spa Clay For Face: Bye-Bye Peach Fuzz
If you're bothered by a few hairs that have popped up on your face or some bothersome peach fuzz, call Nair to the rescue!
The cult favorites have added a face cream to their popular, new Brazilian Spa Clay hair remover lineup:
Nair Brazilian Spa Clay Face Cream ($5.49, on sale at drugstore.com for $4.49).
The hair remover cream sounds good enought to eat, with yummy mango butter and acai berry blended together for superb moisturizing effects. Mineral-rich clay is also in the formula to make hair removal a quick and painless, smooth event.
Would you try this method of facial hair removal?
Read this customer review from Drugstore.com:
"I have some peach fuzz and a few more hairs on my upper lip. Honestly I was afraid to use this thinking of memories of Nair years ago of how badly it irritated my skin and also the terrible smell but I'm SO GLAD I took a chance with this. It is so easy and effective and it doesn't smell horrible (doesn't smell nice, but not horrible).
It totally removed the hair, so far they mostly haven't grown back and it's been three weeks, and it didn't sting at all. Make sure you wash your face thoroughly beforehand and dry it, and be sure to remove all of the Nair with a warm wet towel or I used wet tissues. I had no stinging at all on my sensitive skin."
To avoid irritation and burning like one often sees with hair remover creams, use gentle cleansers to wash the face beforehand, and avoid things like toners, pimple serums, and prescription skin care products a couple of days BEFORE trying the Nair Face Cream.

Ivanka Trump's Simple Cleansing Routine Has A 'Purpose'
Savvy businesswoman Ivanka Trump often deals with complicated city statutes and building permits, but when it comes to skin care, it's pretty 'clear':
Ivanka's simple cleansing routine has a 'purpose,' so to speak.
The 30-year-old mom of one has a great peaches 'n cream complexion, and this is her beauty secret:
Purpose Gentle Cleansing Wash ($4.74, 6 oz., at Target).
You know this cleanser. It's been around for a very long time, and Ivanka has been loyal to Purpose:
"I've been using Purpose face wash since I was 12---it works!" she tells Redbook magazine
And let's take a look at why this effective non-soap DOES work----
"Purpose removes dirt, oil, and make-up without stripping or drying your skin like soap can. And it won't sting your eyes, so it's ideal for removing eye make-up."
The moral of the beauty story here----Even super-rich girls like super cheap skin care products that really work.

Hot Humid Weather Calls For Tough Makeup Setting Spray
Another round of 100 degree temps today for the East Coast.
And if you spend any time outdoors with a full face of makeup on, well, you know what that's like.
If you have an oily complexion, and you're walking around with the searing heat, you can feel your makeup melting.
Ugh!
Not a comforting thought.
Most women dust on some powder to set and seal in their cosmetics, but when the thermometer says 99, you can't win with just a little powder.
You need an 'all-nighter.' And we've found a cult fave by Urban Decay. If you haven't tried this, say hello to Urban Decay Long-Lasting Makeup Setting Spray ($29, at Sephora).
OKay, so $29 isn't too cheap for a 4 oz. bottle, but a few spritzes go a long way. And this stuff works!
Urban Decay claims their Long Lasting Makeup Setting Spray will see you through 16 hours of living. Whatever activity you're into, your makeup stays put, thanks to the amazing patent-pending Temperature Control Technology, which "lowers the temperature of your makeup to hold foundation, eye shadow, blush, and concealer in place. Makeup looks picture-perfect all day long through wind, heat, and cold."
Don't take our word for it, read the raving reviews at Sephora---4.5 stars out of a possible 5 stars, and 1, 216 reviews and counting!
Think of this $29 makeup setting spray as a summer beauty investment.

Revlon Makeup Says Their Whipped Foundation Is Like No Other
Like 'silk on your skin.'
That's how Revlon is describing its new Colorstay Whipped Creme Makeup ($13.99, at Ulta, Buy 1, Get 1 50% Off!).
Yummy!
Halle Berry is wearing Whipped Creme in Caramel. There are 12 shades to choose from.
And although the foundation isn't perfect, it has served us well. So, now our interest has been piqued with Revlon introducing their new whipped formula.
We can't wait to try this on, because we happen to adore whipped, light-as-a-feather makeup. We also like Maybelline's Dream Mousse Blush. These whipped formulas turn from cream to liquid and glide across the skin beautifully.
Revlon says the new whipped Colorstay is super for summer because it won't cake or flake and is a light but full coverage foundation.
Like Revlon claims, "The time release formula balances skin for a flawless look."
Let's face it, its quite a challenge wearing foundation during those brutally hot, searing summer days (98 degrees where we are today). You need a makeup that can stand up to the humidity.
We've looked at some very good reviews from Makeup Alley. The foundation scored a very respectable 4.1 out of 5.0.
Have you tried Revlon's new Colorstay Whipped Creme Makeup?

NYC Smooth Skin Perfecting Primer Covers Up Nicely
We really like when inexpensive makeup gives you a real bang for your buck. And that's why we are taking a closer look today at NYC or New York Color Smooth Skin Perfecting Primer ($3.99, 1 oz., at drugstores).
A primer is like magic in a tube. It can smooth things out and prepare your face for the application of makeup. So, if you'd like those large pores to get lost and take a hike for the day, primer can hide those little imperfections and help you achieve a lovely air-brushed finish.
For under $4, you're getting a good deal. This primer has a pearly white appearance and light texture to it. It leaves behind a little shimmer or glow. We're not sure why it's been labeled Shade 684. Maybe NYC is planning to add other kinds of primer to their beauty collection?
We like playing around with cosmetics from New York Color. We think the makeup brand is under-rated.
