More Smart And Sensible Beauty Tips By Cindy Crawford

Cindy Crawford. Most people know her from her supermodel days. But she is also a busy mother of two, and a woman in her 40s, keeping her beauty look together.

We like Cindy Crawford, because she is an intelligent woman who gets it. She never took herself too seriously during her days before the camera and the catwalk. So, today, we have more smart and sensible beauty tips by Cindy, tips she gave to the April issue of InStyle magazine.

For her daytime look, Cindy keeps it simple and sleek. A great pair of jeans 'that make your butt look good,' a little foundation, mascara, brown eye shadow, nude lipstick, and some jewelry, and she's good to go.

1. Brown eye shadow. Cindy Crawford says that brown is your best friend. "It's less harsh than black, it goes with everything, and it's impossible to mess up. For day, I do variations of brown shadow, either matte or shimmer."

2. Nude lips. Yes, the look is very polished when you can nail the right tone. "A neutral mouth looks really sophisticated, but you have to pick your color carefully so you don't look washed out. I like beigy pinks that are one shade darker than my natural skin tone. I almost always wear gloss, and save lipstick for special occasions."

3. Jewelry. It's the perfect finishing touch, according to Cindy. "Jewelry, like mascara or lipstick, completes your look." Cindy has her own jewelry line called One Kiss, and her pieces are meant to be worn every day like makeup. One Kiss debuts at JC Penney at the end of April.

4. Take care of your skin. Cindy advises SPF protection during the day and a good night cream when you retire for the evening.

5. Exfoliate at least once a month. Cindy is a strong believer in microdermabrasion facials every month and continues the exfoliating at home. "I use a gentle scrub or buff puff to clean my makeup out of the nooks and crannies so my pores don't get clogged.

6. Ballet Flats. Stylish and comfortable, and these classic shoes go with everything, Cindy says.

Valerie Bertinelli Stays Skinny By Healthy Diet And BodyBugg

Valerie Bertinelli. She still looks incredible after shedding some 40 lbs. on the Jenny Craig weight loss diet plan one year ago!!

What's even more amazing, is that the actress and Jenny Craig spokesperson has been training hard for the upcoming Boston Marathon on April 19th. Her first marathon ever. And we know the Boston Marathon is a grueling race.

But Valerie Bertinelli is up for the challenge. And the petite 5'4' actress is proud to say she made a recent trip to Italy with longtime boyfriend Tom Vitale, and enjoyed all the delicious Italian food. And she wore her BodyBugg all the time. What???!! More about that in a moment.

First, Valerie told People Magazine this:
Yes, I brought my Jenny Craig scale with me!” says Valerie. "I wanted to keep an eye on my weight. I said to myself, 'Eat, have fun-- and move your body!'" Valerie enjoyed pasta, oysters, red wine, and more. And yes, she gained a little, but only 3.4 lbs. Way to go, Valerie.

How did she do it?? By walking everywhere.....through Rome, Venice, Florence. She and Tom kept moving the entire 10-day vacation. And the distance was tallied---85 miles! Oh yes, she was able to keep a solid record through the BodyBugg device.

"The smallest number of steps we took in a day was 11,000. We never caught a cab."
The BodyBugg? It was made famous through the Biggest Loser weight loss reality show. For about $249, you can own one, too. You wear the BodyBugg around your arm. The device, pictured above, uses specialized sensors to monitor calories burned with over 90% accuracy. It also tracks steps with a built-in pedometer, like Valerie Bertinelli was explaining. And the intelligent personal calorie management device is also PC and Mac compatible. More details here:

Meantime, it's back to the daily running sessions for Valerie. And just a few weeks before the Boston Marathon:
"I know my body can do this," she says. " I ran 14 1/2 miles before I left for Italy, and wasn’t sore the next day. So I’m just worried about the emotional part. I can’t let my brain remind me that I’m almost 50, not an athlete, and have never done this before. I have to get all that craziness out of my brain!"

Eating right and certainly, exercising to the ultimate, Valerie Bertinelli makes us all proud. We hear she is running for the Dana Farber Cancer Institute. "I just need to finish. There are so many people depending on me, but I feel their love and their ‘You go, girl’ attitude. I don’t want to let them down!"

Great story. Great woman. We wish Valerie Bertinelli all the best.

L'Oreal Adds New No-Ammonia 10 Minute Hair Color

Dying or dye-ing to try this new and gentle no ammonia, 10 minute hair color by L'Oreal! Ever since we saw beautiful 'Lost' actress Evangeline Lilly doing television ads for L'Oreal, we got hooked on her shade: Iced Chocolate.

If you like Clairol's Natural Instincts semi-permanent hair color, then you will also like L'Oreal's new Healthy Look Creme Gloss Color. Just a quick 10 minutes to dye your hair and it lasts through 28 shampoos.

Let's face it.....coloring hair with a permanent dye can be brutal to hair. And if you do it too often, you risk lots of damage to the hair.....like breakage, dullness, dryness, and all those ugly parts that can result when coloring hair at home.

But a no-ammonia hair color is much healthier to your locks. Okay, it isn't superior for lots of gray coverage, but if you have minimal gray, a semi-permanent will cover it. And if you don't want a 'permanent' commitment, this dye will wash away eventually.

This is what L'Oreal's new Healthy Look Ceme Gloss Color can do for you:
Super-nourishing creme colorant without a single ounce of ammonia.
So deeply hydrating, it counters dullness and helps prevent damage. Even suitable for heat-damaged hair.
Conditioning treatment with royal jelly, nature's superfood concentrate with the most essential nutrients. Seals in glossy shine.
Glossy, healthy-looking shine, full of shimmering tones. Softly blends away grays. No obvious roots. 10 little minutes.
If you hesitate between two shades, choose the lighter one.
For the best gray coverage, choose shades with neutral tones.

Evangeline Lilly has gorgeous hair , and everyone's going bananas over her shade: Iced Chocolate (cool chestnut brown) or 4AR. Her color looks as yummy as a chocolate bar! And you can pick up a box at your local drugstore for just $9.99.

Dark Skin Equals Slower Aging But Pigmentation Biggest Concern

Lucky you! Dark skin has many beauty advantages. And when it comes to wrinkles and sagging, you needn't worry for a number of years.

Why? Because women with dark skin have the most melanin and a relatively thick epidermis. So that means, pesky lines like crow's feet and laugh lines won't appear on your face that quickly, whereas a woman with fair or light skin, will notice premature wrinkling pop up in her younger years. Being blessed with extra melanin, is like having your own personal built-in sunblock.

"In general, the darker you are, the slower you age," New York City dermatologist Francesca Fuco tells InStyle magazine.

The beauty problems many dark-skinned women develop, have to do with pigmentation, dark undereye circles, and rough patches of skin.

So, how do you fight back? With early treatment---serums, creams, and yes, even daily sunscreen. But just because you have more melanin, doesn't mean the sun's rays won't affect you over time. We are all vulnerable.

"We dark-skinned women tend to lose elasticity as we age, because we often don't wear sunblock," says Jeanine Downie, a New Jersey dermatologist says to InStyle magazine.

The magazine article suggested the following beauty regimen to keep dark skin looking youthful and flawless:

1. Cleanser: Aveeno Positively Radiant Cleanser ($7, drugstores). This product is gentle on skin and contains soy, which evens out skin tone gently.

2. Eye Cream: Skin Medica TNS Illuminating Eye Cream ($80, at skinmedica.com). A bit pricey, but this eye cream is great at treating dark undereye circles with a high-tech formula that encourages collagen and cell repair. Jeanine Downie recommends this eye cream to many of her African-American patients.

3. Daily Sunscreen: Alyria Corrective Protection Sunscreen SPF30 ($40, at alyria-med.com). Another favorite of Jeanine Downie's. This sunscreen is full of anti-oxidants and completely disappears on dark-skin, after applying.

4. Treatment Lotion: Rx for Brown Skin Bright & Clear Lotion ($34, Sephora stores). A lightweight formula that is excellent at moisturizing skin and fighting acne, and at the same time, not inflaming skin. Made with salicylic acid.

Do You Like Jennifer Love Hewitt's New Breakup Bob?!

Breakup Bob. That's what People magazine is calling Jennifer Love Hewitt's new haircut. Do you like it? We do.

The 31-year-old Ghost Whisperer actress recently broke up with longtime love Jamie Kennedy, and if you believe therapy theories about chopping off hair after a love split, well, maybe there's some truth to it.

Remember this:...I'm gonna wash that man right out of my hair...." This time, Jennifer Love Hewitt is actually cutting that man loose from her hair. And let's be frank here. Most of the hair Jennifer had cut were really long hair extensions. And we're pleased that she's gone back to her natural, darker hair color, too.

We are tired of seeing all these Hollywood beauties with the same cookie cutter, super long and wavy hair extensions. Enough! We wish the Kardashian sisters would all chop off a few inches from their really long hairstyles and try something new. Same with Gisele Bundchen. Denise Richards. Jessica Simpson.

Jennifer Love Hewitt's bob is actually a LOB, or a grown out bob with long layers. And that is a hot look right now. She was photographed outside her Brentwood, California home over the weekend.

Does a short haircut cure a heartbreak? Who knows. Jennifer seems to have taken the high road, when talking about her ex:

"It was a mutual decision and we've parted as friends. There's no anger, there's no upset, there's no enemies."

"It's been totally fine. It's really a testament to who he is and to who I am. We're both grown-ups."
