You've most likely heard a lot about this 'fountain of youth' supplement, Resveratrol, by now.
When Oprah's pals speak, everyone seems to listen, especially when the words are coming from Dr. Mehmet Oz.
Dr. Oz is a strong believer in the benefits of taking Resveratrol supplements. And although he hasn't endorsed any particular brand, he does think that popping a couple a day, can keep you healthy and looking youthful.
By the way, Dr. Oz does suggest 500 mg per day. Note this is the equivalent of dozens of bottles of red wine per day. Er, too bad we couldn't get our daily dose that way.
What exactly is Resveratrol?
Here's how science explains it:
An active polyphenol found in the skins, seeds and stems of grapes, has been proven in studies to be the element in red wine which increases cellular productivity and longevity, leading to a longer and healthier life.
As far as benefits to the skin, Resveratrol is said to support these two aspects:
Provide rapid cell rejuvenation
Offer maximum antioxidant protection
Offer maximum antioxidant protection
That sounds great to us. But if Oprah and her pal, Gayle, are using these supplements, we don't think they look any younger, tee hee.
All kidding aside, check out this YouTube video of Dr. Oz talking to Diane Sawyer about the merits of taking this 'Fountain of Youth' pill:
If you want to jump on the Oprah/Dr. Oz Resveratrol bandwagon, just make sure you buy your stuff from a reputable supplement company.
Resveratrol won't get rid of your wrinkles, but maybe it can reverse further damage to our skin and what's going on internally with our bodies.
