How To Get Playful Soft Mermaid Waves

Iman, Kim Kardashian, Britney Spears, and lots of long-locked beauties are letting their hair down in a cascading new way.

It's called , 'Mermaid Waves', and as you can see by the photos, everything is soft, loose and playful.

This is a hair trend that's been hot for the past spring and summer, and the style is gaining even more momentum for Fall 2011.

To get the look, you need below-the-shoulder hair or some extensions, and the longer, the better, for this hair trend.

1. Take a wide-barreled curling iron, and instead of clamping down on the hair, simply wrap thick strands around and around the iron. This will creat the soft, cascading mermaid waves. Brush out gently with a natural bristle brush.
