Last November, we told our Beauty Tip Today readers about a new, cheaper Kinerase skin care line launching in 2011. It's called Dr. Lewinn by Kinerase, with a great price range----between $10 and $35 each. Compare that to the $100 plus price for Kinerase's main skin care line, and we have a smile on our face.
The Lewinn line has been out there for a few months now, at select Walmart and Walgreen stores. And it's a 10-piece line, including cleansers, moisturizers and daily treatments. And yes, the products contain the special patented plant-based kinetin formula found in the original, more expensive Kinerase skin care line adored by many celebrities, including Courteney Cox.
The Kinerase company is based in southern California. The new line is inspired by Dr. LeWinn, an Australian celebrity plastic surgeon.
But does the Dr. Lewinn by Kinerase line really deliver significant wrinkle repair?
Let's dig a little deeper. We have learned that the new, cheaper skin care line DOES have the same super ingredients already found in the brand, but at a smaller concentration. In other words, this is Kinerase L-I-T-E.
According to the Dr. Lewinn line, these products have "only two to three cosmeceutical-grade ingredients," versus the 10 to 12 in a Kinerase prestige product, says Jenniffer Smoot, marketing director for the company. But the scientifically-advanced formula gives back fine results to the consumer, she suggests, because you could not find such skin care technology in dept. stores, until now.
Still, do your homework....check consumer product reviews online. Maybe the Kinerase line with the $100 price tag and higher, is worth the extra splurge. Wouldn't you prefer a skin care product with a 10-12 cosmeceutical-grade rather than one with a 2-3 grade?!
We're just saying.......
