There's been lots of chatter about celebrity chin implants, ever since reality star Bristol Palin showed up at a red carpet event with a new, sleek, sculpted chin. The daughter of former Alaska governor Sarah Palin has recently admitted, that she, in fact, had surgery, but not the plastic kind.
Bristol Palin says she had jaw surgeryto repair misalignment with her teeth. Read yesterday's BeautyTipToday article below, for the complete story.
Plastic surgery experts are also putting in their two cents, and claim the pretty, 20-year-old mom of 2-year-old Tripp had cosmetic work done, including a chin implant.
So, let's look at this popular procedure that is actually a simple and safe surgery, and can really make a difference in facial balance. Chelsea Clinton appears to have also had chin implant surgery a few years ago. But we cannot confirm or prove this. But we will say, that both Chelsea and Britsol look great with their 'alleged' chin implants.
We did a little research and found an expert, Dr. David Mabrie in San Francisco. We learned that chin implant surgery takes place in a hospital setting, and takes between 1 hour and 1 1/2 hours to do.
After deciding by computer imaging what size implant to use to bring better harmony to one's facial features, the process is straightforward:
"Dr. Mabrie performs chin augmentation with a small incision under the chin instead of using an incision inside the mouth because it decreases the risk of infection. The implant is placed and secured with a few stitches."
And he outlines the recovery process below:

Had a baby around the same time Bristol did and I have had a chubby face ever since. Can't lose the wieght around my neck and jaw either.Wish I could afford this surgery.
Is the implant metal or plastic of some kind? I wonder if you can feel it under your chin or wether it just blends in with your other facial tissue?
ReplyDeleteI thinkBristol looks really cute with her new profile. People shouldn't hate because she's sexier now.
No one's should be hating on Bristol BUT I think we should stop and think about all this plastic surgery. Is that the message we send to young, impressionable girls who might not feel comfortable with their looks---to go ahead and change it all with the cutting of a surgical knife? There was nothing ugly or wrong about the original Bristol. And I know at 20 she is old enough to choose, but its sad when young women don't feel they measure up to these plastic Barbie standards.
